I have to admit something that is a little embarrassing for me. While I’m maintaining my weight, and I’ve noticed a difference in the way I feel, my jeans don’t fit anymore. I literally have one pair of jeans that fit me comfortably (and they’re the same brand and size as most of my other jeans), but I wore them yesterday. Today, however, I’m sitting at my cubicle desk with my pants unbuttoned because it’s the only way to feel comfortable when sitting down. I mean, my pants still fit, but they’re fitting a bit too snugly for my liking.
I think, even if you’re healthy and at a great weight, if your clothes don’t fit, you feel uncomfortable. Why keep suffocating your hips when going up a jean size could ultimately make you feel better? I mean, sure, ideally we’re not looking to go UP a size, but I’d much rather feel comfortable when walking around than feel like a muffin. Am I right?
Before we can really kick off this whole feeling better process, we have to go shopping. We have to try on clothes. We have to feel confident in our clothes, and we won’t feel confident if we’re having to unbutton our jeans to sit down comfortably.
So, this weekend, I’ll be trying on jeans.

This is SO TRUE.
A few weeks ago, I realized none of my jeans fit me properly and I was miserable every time I went out wearing them. I bought a new pair and I feel great, regardless of my size.

@MadelineLouise, Exactly. I bought a new pair of jeans over the weekend (I wrote this post originally last week), and I feel so GREAT in them. They’re actually the same size as all of my other jeans. I guess I’ll just have to try on every pair I buy, instead of trying to squeeze into a pair just because “they’re the same size as all of my other jeans! They should fit!”

@Megan, it’s funny you say that…the jeans I bought are the same size as all my other jeans too! We all look a lot better wearing clothes that fit, rather than clothes that are “our size”

I have this feeling every time I get dressed to go out with friends.
I have a go-to outfit that I love – but I’d like to feel confident in all my clothes, ya know?

@Jeney Peney, I know what you mean. I have a few shirts that make me feel awesome and (now) two pairs of jeans that I feel comfortable in. It’ll definitely be nice when I build up my wardrobe to EVERYTHING being comfortable.

Right around my 32nd birthday, I developed Early 30s Ass Drift. It’s where you aren’t any fatter, and you don’t look any different, but your body’s hard drive reformatted itself and for some godawful reason none of your pants fit. I used it as an excuse to go shopping.

@Shannon, Good idea! I seriously cannot feel good about myself if I’m in clothes that don’t fit properly (whether they’re too big or too small).

@Shannon, I think this happens when you hit early 20s too. Those jeans I wore when I was 18 just never fit even though I didn’t gain weight…(until now)

Exactly.
The last time I bought a pair of jeans I wound up going up a size. I wasn’t happy about it but they are MUCH more comfortable and now I don’t want to wear any of the others!

Ugh, I just wrote a post like this last night, it’ll be my next post on here, whenever it’s published. I wear a damn 10, and I have 10′s that fit, and I went to the store and tried on the EXACT pair of shorts that I already own, (that fit, FYI,) and the ones in the store wouldn’t even button. WTF? I blame the stores for constantly changing the way the size fits.

@racheleliz, I know what you mean! I bought a pair of pants that were the same size and style as my comfy pants … they were just a different color, and they didn’t button!

So, so true. It’s really difficult to get and stay motivated and excited about working out and a healthy lifestyle if we sabotage ourselves with clothing that doesn’t make us look and feel good just as we are.
