100 Pounds to Lose!

by steph anne on April 4, 2010 · 17 comments

Hi, I’m Steph Anne and I’m an emotional eater. I eat whenever I’m happy, sad, depressed, and stressed. I tried losing weight on my own and it hasn’t been working for me. I have about 100 pounds to lose which pretty much started when I went to college. I need to stop thinking I look okay and lose weight NOW before it gets harder.

I found a small gym in my town where they have a 12-week weight loss challenge program. This challenge includes working out for an hour with a personal trainer (in a small group) 3 times a week then boot camp on Saturdays.  Also I have to drink 3 meal replacement shakes a day for the 1st week.  I can’t eat anything else other than the snack list they gave me which includes: any kind of berries, sugar free jello, sugar free fudgesicles and some other snacks.

I’m a Diet Coke addict and it’s been 3 days since I had one.  The meal replacement shakes do not taste good at all. I’ve been trying to mix it up with fruits to add flavor. I’m just about killing myself. Believe me when I say this, I don’t believe in dieting but I need this headstart to see the pounds come off to actually feel motivated to eat better and lead a better lifestyle. Over the weeks, I’ll be able to add in food like chicken, fish, etc.

Monday was my first work out at the gym. It was brutal!!!  I hate the StairMaster — I can’t even do it for 2 minutes without stopping. Monday night I had a headache & went to bed early. I ended up on the floor in the bathroom by the toilet in the middle of the night. Now I’m feeling much better and it’s Day #3.  I haven’t officially weighed in for the week but I think I’ve already lost 5 pounds so far. I have this habit of weighing myself every morning!

I’m finally looking forward to the next 12 weeks doing this challenge. It’s time to focus on myself and do this for ME.

Keep it up! You’ve already been doing great so far and good job on the weight loss already! And the StairMaster sucks, no matter how in shape you are :)

What are the meal replacement shakes? What’s in them? Are they provided by the gym and are you paying for them?

@Katie, Here’s a link to what the Sweat Drop (meal replacements) include: http://www.sweatchallenge.com/drop/ They’re provided by the gym and included in the plan I chose to pay for which is the Weight Loss program.

Oh my Gosh, that program sounds intense. I don’t know if I would have the willpower (and I definitely don’t have the time right now) to do it. I am rooting for you!

I hate meal replacement shakes, except for the ones I make from scratch. I always make my own, usually I use vanilla whey protein powder and blend that with blueberries, bananas and ice sometimes some fresh ginger root, for zing. That actually doesn’t taste bad. It sounds like this program is like the concentrated detox program that I’m doing…sort of. Its cleaning out the system and then slowly integrating foods I like back in, the right way. I’m a little bit of an emotional eater myself, so I totally understand.

We are all rooting for you, just remember that! You can do it!!! Keep us posted!

I have 100 pounds to lose as well (I am 40 pounds in) but I waited until I was 40…good for you for getting it under control when your metabolism is still very young!

Hey girl! It’s so awesome finding you on here! :-)

AMEN to you trying to get healthy! I know you’ve been at it for awhile and I know your small changes will add up. If I can make a suggestion? Maybe don’t weight yourself everyday. As a woman and human (haha), your weight WILL fluctuate and it may not always be down (even though your body is getting healthier). What I have done in the past is weigh myself once a week as the first thing in the morning (after I pee and before I eat). Also, I skip weighing myself during the week of my period because I always weigh more that week.

Does that help at all? I don’t mean to sound preachy or anything – just wanna help :-)

Good luck and I’m looking forward to your next post!

You can do it! That sounds like an intense program, but that sounds like something I would need to get my butt motivated.

I look forward to seeing your progress!

Wow – you are amazing. What a big challenge to take on but so worth it in the end. Can’t wait to see all of your updates! And yes, the stairclimber = Satan’s torture device.

First of all, don’t weigh yourself every morning. Our natural body weight fluctuates daily, even without a rigorous program, that the results of a daily weigh-in might deter you. Muscle weighs more than fat.

But congratulations on trying to get healthy. Keep at it, but don’t push yourself too hard. As you get healthier and make better lifestyle choices, the weight will come off. Give it time. And get to know a better you.

You go girl! Cutting sugary drinks does a lot. My dad cut his pepsi drinking in half and lost ten pounds from that alone. I’m looking forward to reading more about your journey.
